Sermon Notes:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45

Jesus came as a servant, not in spite of the fact that He was God, but because He was God!

1. It is God’s _______________ to serve.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. – Philippians 2:5-7

2. Serving and self-giving love is the most _________________ thing a human being can do.

“He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:8

“And a dispute rose up among them as to which of them was considered to be the greatest.” – Luke 22:24

“Do you understand what I have done? You call Me Teacher and Lord and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example…Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” – John 13:12-17

3. Serving is the path of _______________.

“Therefore God exalted Him to the Highest place and gave Him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:9-11
